It appears that two of the fiscal hawks in Oklahoma’s Congressional Delegation are supporting the continuing resolution to keep the federal government from a partial shutdown on Friday. Congressman Kevin Hern and Congressman Josh Brecheen are signaling support to vote yes on the resolution.
Hern says this continuing resolution will keep the momentum going for President Donald Trump’s America First agenda. Her is the chairman of the Republican Policy Committee.
“Democrats in Congress want to shut down the government to disrupt President Trump’s agenda,” said Hern. “This CR freezes overall funding while increasing funding for the border. I am proud to vote YES, and urge all my colleagues to stand with the President and help his agenda.”
Brecheen is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. While he didn’t issue a statement himself, his official Facebook account did post the position statement of the House Freedom Caucus. That group indicates it will support the continuing resolution because it “will reduce and then freeze spending for the next six months to allow President Trump and his Administration to continue their critical work within the Executive Branch to find and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.”
The House is expected to vote on the continuing resolution (H.R.1968) on Tuesday.
