Stitt Orders Halt to Weatherization Program, Seeks Investigation

Governor Kevin Stitt has directed the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to immediately halt a weatherization program administered by the Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma and Canadian Counties following a forensic investigation into the organization.

According to the Governor’s Office, the investigation identified significant mismanagement and at least $663,000 in questioned or unallowable costs tied to the program.

Stitt also directed Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond to investigate potential violations of state and federal law related to the alleged misuse of funds.

“Taxpayer dollars are not a slush fund,” Stitt said. “When state or federal funds are mismanaged, we are going to stop it, investigate it, and hold people accountable.”

Stitt also praised Oklahoma Department of Commerce Executive Director John Budd and the agency for identifying the issue and acting quickly to protect taxpayer funds.
