Representative Dick Lowe has been named the Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools’ 2026 Legislator of the Year for his advocacy for rural education.
The organization presented the award to Lowe, who chairs the House Common Education Committee, during its annual conference October 23.
“Rural schools are often the heart of the communities they serve and help sustain the future of our towns,” Lowe said. “I’m committed to making sure rural students have the same opportunities to succeed as students anywhere in Oklahoma, and I’ll continue working to ensure our rural schools have the support they need to do that.”
The Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools is a nonprofit representing the interests of more than 320 member school districts.
Lowe, a former agriculture teacher, has chaired the House Common Education Committee since 2024.
