Brian Hill, self-made businessman, youth pastor and business advisor, Wednesday announced his campaign for the District 47 seat in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Hill is passionate about Oklahoma children, the economy and the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Hill is running for the seat being vacated by state Rep. Leslie Osburn.
A graduate of Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Hill and his wife, Melissa, are owners of Kairos Investments & Venture Partners and Foundation Learning Centers of Texas. In 2017, they founded Navigatec, a resource for entrepreneurs, business leaders and potential start- ups.
“I’m running because I want to make a difference for our teachers, our children, foster parents and small business owners. But that’s just the beginning,” he said.
As foster parents themselves, the Hills were heartbroken when an absurd government regulation put a halt to them adopting a child in their care. They were the most stable home this child knew.
“Foster parents should be protected and in turn, that would protect our kids. They deserve it, and for the future of the state, they need it,” Brian said.
Protecting small business owners from needless government regulations also is necessary, he said. As the owners of 14 small businesses at one time, the Hills struggled to keep up with ever-changing regulations.
“We’ve got to take care of our business owners. Bringing in more small business is key to fixing our state budget issues,” Hill said.
Hill, the grandson of a Pentecostal preacher, is an ordained minister. Since 2009, he has served as area director for Youth for Christ of West Oklahoma City. He has been instrumental in providing faith-based and purpose-driven programs, along with mentorships and other opportunities for the youth. Hill considers this work philanthropic and does not take a salary. He also is on the board of several non-profit organizations.
Brian and Melissa Hill are parents to Eleanor, 11, an animal-lover and aspiring zoology major, and Josiah, 8, a young entrepreneur and baseball player extraordinaire. They are active in Discovery Church of Yukon.
