Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond feels Congress should pass the Youth Substance Use Prevention and Awareness Act to help combat drug use among young people. The bill would provide funding for education and outreach programs.
“Our young people are facing unprecedented exposure to deadly substances, especially with the rising threat of fentanyl,” said Drummond. “This bill would provide our state with targeted resources to develop Oklahoma-specific prevention campaigns that speak directly to young people. This legislation gives us the tools to stop addiction and save lives.”
Drummond joined a bipartisan coalition of 38 attorneys general writing a letter to Congressional leaders encouraging them to pass the legislation to help states reach young people.
“It is not just a matter of policy — it is a matter of prevention, education, and hope,” the attorneys general wrote in a letter to U.S. Senate leadership.
