Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is demanding that Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready release a long-awaited examination report on how insurance companies handle roof damage claims.
In a letter sent Monday, Drummond said the Oklahoma Insurance Department promised to publicly release the report during the first quarter of 2026 after announcing it had spent two years investigating insurers’ market conduct. More than six months after that deadline, the report has not been made public.
“Oklahomans deserve answers, not excuses,” Drummond said.
“He was elected to protect Oklahoma homeowners, not insurance company profits. Now, he’s running out of time to do the right thing.”
Drummond asked Mulready to release the examination report, investigative findings and supporting workpapers by Friday.
The attorney general also renewed criticism over delays in holding a public hearing on competition in Oklahoma’s homeowners insurance market. Drummond requested the hearing in April, arguing homeowners have faced unprecedented increases in insurance premiums. He contends state law required the commissioner to either hold the hearing or formally deny the request within 30 days.
Mulready later scheduled the hearing for September.
“As Oklahoma’s chief law officer, I have a statutory duty to protect the collective interests of Oklahomans,” Drummond said.
“Transparency is not optional. Hardworking Oklahomans are paying the price for the commissioner’s refusal to comply with the law.”
