Lankford Urges Congress to End Government Shutdowns

U.S. Senator James Lankford told members of the House Appropriations Committee that Congress should end the cycle of government shutdowns by requiring lawmakers to remain in Washington until annual spending bills are completed.

Testifying before the committee’s first full oversight hearing on government shutdowns since 2008, Lankford promoted his bipartisan Prevent Government Shutdowns Act, which he developed with U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire.
