Rep. Mike Ritze said today that a study by the nation’s leading group of financial risk analysts confirms what conservatives have long claimed – the Affordable Care Act will balloon health care costs.
According to a USA TODAY story, the Society of Actuaries has concluded that most states will see double-digit increases in their individual health insurance markets and that medical claims costs will jump an average of 32 percent for individual policies. The study did not look at the impact on people who have coverage through their jobs.
“This is a credible, non-partisan group that is concluding that the Affordable Care Act will not act as advertised,” said Ritze, R-Broken Arrow. “It is going to increase health care costs and that does not bold well for Americans. “The best way to reduce the damage to our own state will be to resist the implementation of the law in any way that we can.”
