TMR Exclusive: Document Reveals State Chamber’s Education Mission, Angers Some

newsexThe McCarville Report Exclusive

A grant application from the Oklahoma State Chamber has found its way into the hands of some state lawmakers who are unhappy with its tone and mission.

The state chamber plans to school legislators on education at a proposed “academy” and promises to deliver “50%” of the Oklahoma Legislature on education objectives important to out-of-state foundations.

Part I

The state chamber wants dollars for a proposed non-profit from the Bill Gates Foundation, the Walton Foundation and the Kaiser Foundation.

Some insiders say the controversial document threatens to divide
Republicans next year on the education issue.

Rural lawmakers fear the proposals will strip their schools of funding while some “far right” conservatives fear the proposal brings more federal control of Oklahoma education.

The McCarville Report received the document earlier. Shortly, TMR will report more details, including the Chamber’s criticisms of  an existing and influential non-profit, the Oklahoma Business and Education Coalition, which helped craft Governor Mary Fallin’s education reforms.

And now the truth is out… the Chamber is NOT about good government, but about pushing a globalism agenda. SHAME ON THEM!!!! Business owners who are members of the chamber, even in small towns, should re-think what they are paying dues for and keep their hard earned dollars instead of joining the chamber of commerce. The CofC isn’t about working for an improved business climate or less government regulation!

Mike, Thanks for exposing this threat of increased corporate influence in Oklahoma schools. Schools are like homes in that financial independence is required to remain ideologically independent. The dollars offered by these mega-foundations have huge strings attached that dilute local control and the “free will” of the Oklahoma electorate to educate her students.

The Chamber is a member of ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council). ALEC churns out legislation that does not support the working class, public education or the best interests of the majority of Americans. Hope this report wakes some people up to the truth!
