Coffee Talk: How Hot Is It?

~ Oklahoma politics right now is burning hot. A friend, to whom I bragged about the number of hits this site had on Monday, wrote the following: The McCarville Report, a political insiders publication since 1980, had a record day for hits on its blog with 6,074. That’s double what it has been at any time in history since going live on the Internet seven years ago. TMR is published by Mike McCarville and his capable staff. McCarville is a member of the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame, a former KTOK talk show host and reporter and was press secretary to former Governor Dewey Bartlett and was his U. S. Senate campaign manager. McCarville spent 20 years as a state and national campaign consultant. He’s a fixture in Oklahoma politics and the press. His in-state sources are likely to be the most extensive anywhere, and have grown since his blog became the leading daily stop for political and governmental insiders from across Oklahoma. Well, gee.

~ Our email server had a melt-down early Monday. Emails still being prepared to be sent went flying into the ether on their own and several were sent multiple times. Our apologies for the errors.

~ We had 67 folks ask to be added to our email alert list on Monday. That’s a record as well. Also, we received 169 emails on Monday; that, too, likely is a record.

~ Usually reliable, The Hill stubbed its toe on Monday and we compounded the error. The Hill reported that Senator Tom Coburn likely would endorse Congressman James Lankford in the race to succeed him. We reprinted The Hill’s story. Then sources close to Coburn said NOPE. Egg on faces.

~ Headline: Brains of elderly slow down because they know so much. Wish I could make that claim.
