Senator Mike Lee Backs Shannon

Former House Speaker T.W. Shannon on Wednesday picked up the endorsement of U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah.

A tea party favorite, Lee is associated with the Senate Conservatives Fund and the Heritage Foundation, both of which have ties to former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

The Tulsa World reports, “Unlike a lot of people who pursue public office, T.W. actually has a conservative record,” Lee said by telephone from Washington on Tuesday.

Lee said he met Shannon after “I heard about him from several people who are familiar with Oklahoma.”

“T.W. has shown me that he’s a very impressive candidate,” Lee said.

Lee, along with Texas Senator Ted Cruz, led an unsuccessful attempt last year to block further implementation of the Affordable Care Act. More recently, he delivered the tea party response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address.

Lee said he may campaign for Shannon in Oklahoma.

“I haven’t booked any (airline) tickets yet,” he said, “but that’s a possibility.”+

I’m delighted to see conservatives back TW, I see him as the true conservative in the race unlike Lanford who says one thing and does another…

  2. Dick Grace, 02 April, 2014

Shannon is the only true conservative with a record and not just talk.

  3. Tom, 02 April, 2014

    Amen!

  4. The Logician, 02 April, 2014

Another slap in the face to Brogdon who can’t quit yapping about how he will be like Mike Lee if he was elected.

  5. Hammer, 02 April, 2014

How do you guys that keep calling TW a “true conservative” explain his vote FOR Senate Bill 2033 (Common Core) on May 28, 2010? That’s TW’s “record.”

See it for yourself here: http://legiscan.com/OK/rollcall/SB2033/id/129322

TW was FOR Common Core, before he was against it.

  6. The Logician, 03 April, 2014

Thank you…glad somebody else has the courage to point out that TW is a fare-weather conservative.

  7. Danny, 02 April, 2014

If TW moves any further to the right, he will fall off the edge of the earth.

  8. Jon, 03 April, 2014

His consultants will have him doing Alex Jones before this thing is over 🙂

  9. Castor, 02 April, 2014

Neither TW nor James Lankford will represent us badly. I favor Lankford because he combines conservatism with sufficient pragmatism to get things done in DC. TW has exhibited unseemly haste here, though I think he will be good in due course.

  10. Danny, 02 April, 2014

Well said Castor. Lankford will be our next Senator. TW is selling out to all these outside groups. Oklahomans will elect Lankford…. not the big $$ people that are sending piles of $$ into this race from the coast.

Lankford’s a man of faith that will stick to his faith and principles and work with others to get things done for Oklahoma and the country. According to my good friend Senator Jim Inhofe, James Lankford is the hardest working man in Congress. That is high praise coming from one of the most respected conservatives in the US Senate that realizes government must support America’s infrastructure and just can’t say “No” to every vote that comes down the aisle.

Hammer was right on when he brought up the Common Core vote. TW was Mary’s puppet then, so who’s puppet is he going to be in Washington? Boehners? Although, Mark Levin pointed out the other day that Lankford has gotten a little too cozy with Boehner here lately. Regardless, we could have worse representation, such as Debbie Wasserman Schulltz!
