A Dirty Trick?

UPDATE: On Thursday morning, Cross reported the GOP is not involved.

As candidates file for office, one incumbent will have to do a little extra work for re-election. State Representative Emily Virgin, a Democrat from Norman is going to have to create a new campaign website. Her current site, emilyvirgin.com now redirects visitors to the Oklahoma Republican Party’s donation website.

Wednesday morning on Twitter, Representative Virgin told followers “Just filed for re-election to represent House District 44 for another two years! I’m excited to get out and ask voters for their support.”

Fox 25 contacted her about the online switch and Virgin told us she was aware of the change and that she apparently lost control of the site about a month ago.

“I was surprised to discover that the Oklahoma Republican Party acquired a website featuring my name. I hope they will return it to me, but if not, I hope they will use it in a constructive and honest way.” Virgin told Fox 25, “I plan on starting a new website in the time being where voters can learn about my background and work at the Capitol over the past four years. I believe it’s in the best interest of all Oklahomans for the parties to work together, and I sincerely hope this action taken by the Oklahoma Republican Party will not hinder that.”

Fox 25 contacted the Oklahoma Republican Party, but did not get a response when this article was published. According to online records the website is technically registered to a company called “Domains By Proxy,” a business that advertises the ability to hide personal information from public website registration sites.

I vehemently object to the insinuation that Ms. Virgin has “lost control” of her website. Liberal Democrats, King Harry Reid and Queen Nancy Pelosi claim that no one has had their insurance cancelled because of the ObamaCare fiasco, that American families have simply been given the opportunity to “renew” their policies elsewhere. I insist that Ms. Virgin be given the same treatment. Her website wasn’t stolen, nor has she lost control. She is simply being given the opportunity to seek a new website with a different company. Opportunity is knocking loud and clear!!
