Turner Plans Holder Appearance Protest

After hearing recent news that the Oklahoma City Police Academy will have U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder speak at this year’s graduation, State Representative and 5th District Congressional candidate Mike Turner is asking citizens to peacefully voice their opposition to Holder’s appearance.

“This is simply outrageous,” said Turner, R-Oklahoma City. “After his involvement in the Fast and Furious Gun Running Scandal and his refusal to hand over documents on the matter to Congress, I find it disturbing that he will be addressing men and women who will be fighting on the front lines against the Mexican Cartel presence in Oklahoma City.

“Our police officers put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety of our citizens. I cannot condone the decision to have someone appear at a police graduation that does not respect their sacrifice and is willing to needlessly endanger American lives.”

In response to Holder’s invite, Turner has launched a petition for citizens to sign calling for the Oklahoma City Police Academy to withdraw their invitation to Holder.

“He has shown complete contempt for upholding the law, and his presence at a law enforcement graduation is inappropriate and a dishonor to those who protect Oklahoma City,” said Turner. “I ask that the organizer withdraw Holder’s invitation, and I ask the people of Oklahoma to sign my petition so that we may uphold the integrity of Oklahoma City Police Academy’s graduation ceremony.”

Since his appointment by President Barack Obama, U.S. Attorney General Holder has been involved in a number of controversies and what many are calling serious infringements of American’s civil liberties.

In 2012, Holder recused himself from a probe into the Justice Department’s secret obtainment of the Associated Press’s phone records. This was done in the name of “National Security” but is being seen as an attempt to intimidate and silence free press.

Holder also refused to take appropriate action against the Black Panthers after a 2008 incident in which Black Panthers, in intimidating outfits and wielding a club, stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.

Holder further demonstrated his dedication to complete inaction during the investigation into the 2012 Benghazi attack.

“We should start taking a stand against these actions in Oklahoma, rather than rewarding Holder with the honor of speaking to our distinguished graduates,” said Turner. “We must do what we can to prevent this ironic and disturbing endnote to these future police officers’ training at the Academy.”

Holder should be in prison, not speaking to our future police.

  2. RD Pollock, 19 April, 2014

Turner should be locked up in Griffin Memorial Hospital rather than left running loose in our state’s Capitol.

Turner is an embarrassment to the city. I don’t like Holder, but this isn’t the way to handle it.
