Ernest Istook, who represented Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District for 14 years, plans to interview the many contenders for the seat on his radio program.
Six Republicans and three Democrats have filed for the seat now held by Rep. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City. Lankford is running for the U.S. Senate this year.
The 5th District includes most of Oklahoma County and Seminole and Pottawatomie counties. Istook, a Republican, held the seat from 1993 to 2007; he ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2006, losing to then-Gov. Brad Henry.
Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Patrice Douglas, of Edmond, is scheduled to appear on Istook’s show at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to Istook, all the candidates have been invited for multiple appearances leading up to the June 24 primaries.

The other Republicans running for the seat are: former state Sen. Steve Russell, of Edmond; state Rep. Mike Turner, of Edmond; Harvey Sparks, of Oklahoma City; state Sen. Clark Jolley, of Edmond; and Shane Jett, of Tecumseh.
The Democrats running for the seat are: Tom Guild, of Edmond; Leona Leonard, of Seminole; and state Sen. Al McAffrey, of Oklahoma City.
