Romney Endorses Lankford

Former Governor of Massachusetts and 2012 Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney announced today in the following statement of support for Congressman James Lankford in the race for U.S. Senate:

“In Washington there are too many politicians who grandstand, and too few that actually have a proven track record of fighting President Obama’s reckless agenda. James Lankford is a person who gets things done and he is the conservative choice for U.S. Senate.  Every day he is on the front lines opposing wasteful Washington spending, Obamacare and holding Attorney General Eric Holder accountable to the American people. The American people need his sober judgment, servant leadership and conservative principles now more than ever. He has the integrity, honesty and experience to be the next great U.S. Senator from Oklahoma. James Lankford will seek to serve, not to be served; I’m proud to support James Lankford for Senate.”

– Governor Mitt Romney, Sept. 3, 2014

“I am honored to have Governor Romney’s support as I focus on finding real solutions and creating lasting reform,” Lankford said. “We must work to get our nation back into balance. This will mean reining in duplicative programs, out of control spending, disastrous policies like Obamacare and an Administration that believes they can legislate by pen and phone.”

Since entering congress Lankford has successfully fought for fiscal responsibility. Lankford authored and passed the Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act, a measure to identify wasteful and duplicate federal programs.

Lankford, currently representing Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, won the June primary election, securing the Republican nomination in the for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by long-time U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (OK – R).
