Cal Hobson, once among the state’s most powerful senators, was soundly defeated in his bid to win a Cleveland County commissioner’s seat in Tuesday’s voting.
Harold Haralson, a Republican from Norman, defeated Hobson, Lexington Democrat, by a vote of 11,004, or 62.4 percent, to 6,572, or 37.6 percent.
Hobson has had several brushes wishes with the law in recent years. Most recently, he was arrested for DUI.
