Ferate Named VP Regulatory Affairs For OIPA

ferrateA.J. Ferate has been named the vice president of regulatory affairs for the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association.

In the position, Ferate will lead the association’s outreach efforts at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and other state and federal regulatory agencies on behalf of Oklahoma’s independent oil and natural gas producers.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to represent the people and the industry I care so deeply about,” Ferate said. “The OIPA has a distinguished record of accomplishment in the regulatory arena. I look forward to building on that legacy. I’m a firm believer that a strong oil and gas industry translates into a better Oklahoma.”

Ferate most recently served as public policy coordinator for Oklahoma City’s Devon Energy Corporation. Prior to working for Devon, Ferate managed the Oklahoma City office of Ryan Glover LLP, a Houston-based energy law firm focused on energy policy, energy regulatory law, alternative energy, and election law.

Ferate also served as general counsel and chief financial officer of the American Clean Skies Foundation and served under former Corporation Commissioner Denise Bode during her time in office.

A native of Washington state, Ferate has served more than nine years as an intelligence analyst for the United States Naval Reserve, including time at the Office of Naval Intelligence in the greater Washington, D.C., area.

“A.J.’s multi-faceted background in legal and regulatory arenas will help the OIPA better serve Oklahoma’s independent producers and the companies that support them,” said OIPA Chairman Ronnie Irani, president & CEO of RKI Exploration and Production in Oklahoma City. “We are excited to have A.J. join our team.”
