No, it’s time for the casinos to finish the museum.
It’s time for tribal license plate money to finish the museum.
It’s time for Indian Smoke Shops to finish the museum.
Not another dime of state finances!

Rep. Paul Wesselhoft from Moore disagrees with you on this. For background, Wesselhoft is a council member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation legislature:

Instead of using money from the tribes Mr. Wesselhoft thinks the state should take existing money away from education to pay for the “cultural center”. In fact, he even issued an official press release to describe his plan:

Wesselhoft is one of the few legislators who issues press releases to draw attention to his foolish ideas.

There would be some poetic justice if we gave the museum to one of the tribes and asked them to turn it into a casino.

I think anyone should be able to have a casino, wherever they want. This white elephant seems like a good spot for one. The State should just hand it back to OKC.

No! the legislature should not finish this BIG waste of money. Governments should never build museums, let the free market do it. If the government wants to be responsible, take the least expensive way out even if it means giving it back to Oklahoma City. Personally, I wish we could sue all the elected officials that voted for it and the governor that signed the bill and make them pay for it out of their own pocket, then things like this would cease.

  6. OK Gal, 07 April, 2015

I agree with the other views expressed. It’s time to cut our losses, admit it was a big mistake, and give it to OKC or whoever wants it. Why don’t the tribes step forward? If it would be such a cash cow, why don’t we have them scrambling to get a hold of it?
