Oil & Gas Association’s Warmington Lauds Fallin

warmingtonThe Oklahoma Oil & Gas Association on Friday lauded Governor Fallin for signing Senate Bill 809 into law.

The new law, which was crafted by municipal and industry leaders, reinforces the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s jurisdiction over oil and natural gas operations in the state.

“This was the most important oil and gas industry bill passed during this legislative session,” OKOGA President Chad Warmington said. “It protects producers and midstream companies from facing a patchwork of unreasonable regulations across the state.”

Warmington said the new law will allow Oklahoma to continue as a significant global contributor in the production of oil and gas, under the experienced guidance of the Corporation Commission.  It also permits municipalities to enact ordinances dealing with traffic, road use and noise from oil and gas operations.

“This bill was a good compromise for all involved,” Warmington said. “It maintains the Corporation Commission’s role in regulating oil and gas activities, without limiting cities’ ability to protect their residents.”
