Hubbard Disses Brogdon

The man many of Randy Brogdon’s supporters are backing to succeed Brogdon as Republican State chairman says it is time for maturity in the office.

Robert Hubbard, discussing his candidacy with the Tulsa World, said, “I think at this point we need some maturity in the chair’s position.”

Hubbard’s reference to Brogdon’s troubled, five-month tenure is the first not-so-kind reference to Brogdon in the race to succeed him. Brogdon’s inability to handle crisis management allowed several firestorms during his tenure.

Acting Chairman Estela Hernandez and Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women President Pam Pollard are also in the race, to be decided October 11th at a meeting of the GOP State Committee.

They are under attack from Brogdon supporters, including the toxic Al Gerhart of the Sooner Tea Party and his followers. Gerhart and others who paint themselves as “grassroots” Republicans and all others as “establishment” Republicans claim Hernandez and Pollard were not supportive of Brogdon.

Hubbard, 71, of Yukon, is a semi-retired entrepreneur who has a cattle and horse operation. Hubbard made failed attempts for governor and Congress.

He has a bachelor’s degree in religion from Southern Nazarene University.
