Dr. Harold Haralson, a longtime Republican worker and official from Norman, has announced he is a candidate for the Republican Party’s vacant vice chairmanship.
In a letter to party leaders, Haralson wrote, “As the former Cleveland County Chairman, I know firsthand how abrupt changes can impact our Party’s ability to execute a plan and work towards November. That is one reason that I am running, to help serve as a stabilizing voice. I pledge to work with Chairman Pollard and support her decisions.
“From March 2015 to March 2016 we will have had three different State Chairman and will be electing our third Vice Chairman. We need to unite the Party, the Executive Committee and keep the Party focused on our key elections. Otherwise we risk repeating the results of the HD85 and SD39 special elections.
“As a veteran of the Navy and a small business owner, I know the importance of teamwork. I have demonstrated that ability to work with people as a Norman City Councilman, the first and so far- only- Republican Mayor of Norman, and District 3 Cleveland County Commissioner.
“I first registered as a Republican at the age of 18 in the State of Oklahoma. This was when Oklahoma was a Democratic Stronghold. I have served the party as a member and chair of the Cleveland County Platform and Rules Committees. I have served on the State Platform Committee and State Committee.
“As Chairman of Cleveland County, I was able to work with all of our grassroots activists and ensure that their voices were heard and considered. I will continue that open door policy to listen to those who want to be involved.
“In the coming days and weeks, I will be reaching out to each of you to hear your concerns and ask for your vote personally. If you have any questions, or want to reach me, my email is HaralsonforViceChair@gmail.com or my cell phone is (405) 627-9881.”
