AG Files Lawsuit Against New Jersey Web Based Company

Attorney General Scott Pruitt filed a lawsuit against a web-based company in New Jersey which was allegedly ripping off more than 100 Oklahoma businesses. The suit alleges Electronic Media Marketing Group, also calling itself GeneralYellowPages.com, falsely represented that consumers owed the company payment for online business listening services.

The scammers tell the businesses they owe $599.95 for services. Electronic Media Marketing Group is also accused of billing customers multiple times for services never ordered or performed.

“Those who take advantage of hardworking Oklahoma business owners will not be tolerated,” Pruitt said. “My office is committed to protecting consumers in the state, and will continue to take legal action against those engaging in dishonest business practices.”

The Attorney General is seeking fines of $10,000 per violation and wants to ban the company from doing business in Oklahoma. The suit was filed in Oklahoma County District Court.
