David Hall Dead At 85

Former Governor David Hall has died at age 85.

Hall was elected in 1970, defeating Republican Governor Dewey Bartlett in the closest governor’s race in history, less than two-thirds of a vote per precinct.

The former Tulsa County District Attorney left the state for California after his release from prison in the mid 1970s.

After leaving office in 1975, he was indicted on charges of bribery and extortion. He was implicated in a scheme involving the investment of state retirement funds. He was convicted of bribery and served 18 months at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson.
