Henry, Keating Voice Opposition to SQ 777

Former Governors Henry and Keating are coming out against State Question 777 as the battle of the Right to Farm issues heats up before the November 8 General Election.

“777 is for the outsiders – giving foreign-owned and industrialized factory farms blanket protection in our constitution,” Keating said. “It’s so flawed that Oklahomans would lose their ability to protect our land and water. It could lead to dangerous pollution.”

“777 would be a big risk for Oklahoma,” Henry said. “It limits our ability to protect our food, water and soil. Oklahomans already have the right to farm; 777 is just a giveaway to the outsiders, which reduces the abilities of cities and towns to make local decisions.”

It seems SQ 777 has erased political party lines on both sides. Those who support SQ 777 are made up of Oklahoma agriculture organizations and associations. Pundits have said this has become the classic urban vs. rural issue for voters. Both sides have accused the other of receiving support from out of state interests.
