Cleveland to Hold Hearing Covering Special Education in Oklahoma

Rep. Bobby Cleveland has scheduled a hearing to examine special education in Oklahoma. Several experts who want to strengthen the state’s commitment to students with disabilities are scheduled to appear at the January 31st hearing.

“I am extremely excited to be hosting this hearing about such an important topic,” said Cleveland. “In addition to studying what can be done to better our state’s approach to special education, this hearing is also a time to honor educators in this field. Special education teachers go above and beyond to give their students the best. I’ve been visiting with these teachers since the fall, and I’m always impressed with their dedication to the children in their care.”

He wants to ensure that children are getting a good education no matter their situation.

“Special education in Oklahoma deserves more than it’s getting. Whether these students have Tourette Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia or anything else affecting their ability to learn, early intervention is key. I hope this hearing will allow the state an opportunity to brainstorm ideas and solutions to benefit these students and their parents,” Cleveland said.

The hearing is set to take place in Room 206 at the State Capitol. It’ll begin at 10 a.m.
