Russell Announces Desire to Chair Oversight and Government Reform Committee

Oklahoma Congressman Steve Russell is looking to succeed Congressman Jason Chaffetz as the chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Chaffetz announced he would resign his seat at the end of June.

Russell has highlighted government spending faux pas by publishing six editions of the Waste Watch report. He also had four bills which made it to the President’s desk and saved taxpayers about $4 billion.

Other media outlets are reporting such names as Congressman Trey Gowdy and prominent Freedom Caucus member Congressman Jim Jordan as possible successors to Chaffetz.
