Special Election Day in Two Legislative Races

Once again, it is election day for parts of Oklahoma. Concerning legislative races, voters in House District 46 will choose a representative, while Republicans in Senator District 37 will pick a nominee.

The HD 46 seat was vacated by Scott Martin who took a job in the private sector. Republican Darin Chambers and Democrat Jacob Rosecrants are vying for the position.

SD 37 needed a special election once Dan Newberry announced his resignation from the Senate. Seven Republicans are on the ballot; Brian O’Hara, Grady Grant, Brian Jackson, Rick Hardesty, Nicole Nixon, R. Jay McAtee and Phil Nollan. The winner of the special primary will face Democrat Allison Ikley-Freeman in the general special election to be held November 14.

Many cities and counties are also holding elections for various reasons. In Oklahoma City, a major bond and tax issue is on today’s ballot.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.
