A misunderstood social media invite to a Bartlesville High School student walkout to protest budget cuts has led to Senator Julie Daniels engaging the school to talk about legislative issues. The Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel writes Daniels and others were invited by a student to take part in the walkout. Daniels initially chided the student, but when she learned it was only 22 minutes, she offered to speak to students and teachers about funding issues.

Senator Daniels is right: whether the walkout is 22 minutes or all day, the students should stay in class and take in the education being offered there. They could demonstrate before or after school with equal effect.
