Hunter Subpoenaed Issued for Monday Candidacy Challenge

As part of the contest to his candidacy, Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter has been subpoenaed to appear before the Oklahoma State Election Board on Monday with tax records in hand.

Tulsa attorney Gentner Drummond challenged Hunter’s eligibility for the Attorney General’s race based on his residence. Drummond claimed Hunter had moved to Virginia as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. Hunter points to a legal opinion which stated he did qualify for being a “bona fide” resident of Oklahoma before being appointed by Governor Fallin in 2017.

Oklahoma County Assessor Chief Deputy Larry Stein also has been subpoenaed. He has been instructed to provide testimony and records related to Hunter’s Edmond residence.

The State Election Board hearing for Drummond’s challenge to Hunter’s candidacy is scheduled for Monday, April 23 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 230 at the State Capitol Building.

The subpoenas can be viewed below.
