Powell to Protest Exclusion from The Oklahoman Gubernatorial Debate

Libertarian Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Powell will hold a rally while The Oklahoman holds its gubernatorial debate with Republican Kevin Stitt and Democrat Drew Edmondson on Monday. Powell was not invited to that debate, but will be included in others not sponsored by the newspaper.

Powell believes The Oklahoman is playing favorites by excluding the Libertarian Party.

The Oklahoman hasn’t published an article focused on any Libertarian campaign since April 2nd,” noted Powell, “and is failing to follow their own purpose statement by not informing voters of all of their choices.  In defending their actions they are claiming that they used a poll that was released the evening of Sept. 11th to determine the participants of their forum, the details of which were posted on their website before dawn on Sept. 12th.  Did they arrange all this with the Democrat and Republican nominees in the middle of the night?”

Powell’s rally will be held outside of Oklahoma City’s Municipal Hall across from the Oklahoma City Museum of Art where The Oklahoman will hold its debate. The Libertarian candidate plans to address the public at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
