Banking Board Approves Plan to Convert Stitt’s Company to Bank

As Governor-elect Kevin Stitt prepares to move into the Governor’s Mansion, his company Gateway Mortgage has won approval from the Oklahoma Banking Board to merge with Farmers Exchange Bank of Cherokee and become Gateway First Bank. The Oklahoman’s Ben Felder writes the Banking Board will relegate all bank examinations of the new entity to the FDIC while Stitt is Oklahoma’s governor. Stitt also separated himself from the company to prevent a conflict of interest while in office.
