Rocky Meeting for Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board

Monday’s meeting got a bit testy for the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board.

Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoberock writes the Board voted down an extended leave of absence for Executive Director Steve Bickley, who is under fire by Board Member Allen McCall.

McCall sent an email to Bickley accusing him of injecting anti-death penalty opinions on the board, would move for his termination and appear before the multi-county grand jury to present evidence of Bickley and others breaking the law.

Other Board members, who were appointed by Governor Kevin Stitt, became critical of McCall’s approach. McCall was appointed by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
