Stewart Sets Sights on Senate District 18

Canadian County Commissioner Jack Stewart is looking to make the move to the Oklahoma Senate. The civil engineer is filing as a Republican for the Senate District 18 seat, which is being moved from northeast Oklahoma to the western part of the Oklahoma City metro due to redistricting.

Stewart is serving his third term as Canadian County Commissioner. He previously worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and in the private sector.

“After serious consideration, I have decided to pursue a unique opportunity to serve the people of Yukon, Bethany and West OKC at the Oklahoma State Capitol. We have many talented professionals in our legislature, but I am excited to bring my unique skill set in Civil Engineering to assist in comprehensive planning and prioritization of strengthening roads and infrastructure in our local community and across our state. While my first duty as a state senator will be to defend the God-given liberties of my fellow Oklahomans, my next priority will be to help develop the foundational infrastructure in which local businesses and workers can thrive,” said Stewart.

Stewart will face Hunter Zearley for the Republican nomination. So far, a Democrat, Libertarian or Independent candidate has not declared a campaign for Senate District 18.

The primary is June 28, 2022.
