Oklahoma Joins Antitrust Lawsuit Against Apple

Saying Apple is restricting the cellphone marketplace by maintaining a monopoly, the U.S. Department of Justice, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, and other state Attorneys General have filed an antitrust lawsuit against the tech giant.

“This case is about freeing smartphone markets from Apple’s anticompetitive and exclusionary conduct and restoring competition to lower smartphone prices for consumers, reducing fees for developers and preserving innovation for the future,” the complaint states.

The lawsuit alleges Apple has blocked innovative super apps, suppressed mobile cloud streaming services, excluded cross platform messaging apps, diminished the functionality of non-Apple smartwatches, and limited third-party digital wallets.

The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
