U.S. Ways and Means Approves Hern’s Plan for Digital Therapeutics

During this week’s markup of H.R. 8816, the American Medical Innovation and Investment Act of 2024, Congressman Kevin Hern got his plan for the use of Prescription Digital Therapeutics (PDTs) approved. Those are software-based disease treatments.

Hern’s legislation would have Medicare create pathways to cover the use of PDTs.

“Technology has tremendously improved our lives in so many ways, it’s time we apply that to our medical care. Prescription digital therapeutics will provide important benefits to patients – such as mental health resources for veterans – while unlocking untold potential in new technologies. I’m proud to have introduced this legislation in the House to ensure Americans have access to cutting-edge care,” said Hern.

You can watch Hern provide comments on his legislation to the Committee below.
