A larger percentage of voters hit the polls four years ago compared to this year’s General Election. While more ballots were cast, a smaller percentage of eligible voters participated in the election.
The Oklahoman’s Dale Denwalt writes that overall participation in a presidential election fell for the first time in 12 years.
It was the lowest turnout since 2012. There was a lower participation rate among urban voters, while rural voters were above average in participation.
