Operation Guardian Agreement to be Finalized

A new memorandum of agreement between the state of Oklahoma and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to enhance the implementation of Governor Kevin Stitt’s Operation Guardian is close to being finalized. The agreement will allow Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to arrest and remove criminal illegal aliens from the state.

“President Trump is fulfilling his promise of a secure border and removing those who are a threat to public safety,” said Stitt. “We’ll be able to leverage our existing law enforcement infrastructure and federal resources to enforce the law and keep Oklahomans safe. There will be no haven for illegal immigrants who break our laws. We will uphold Oklahoma’s strong tradition of being a law & order state.”

ICE will delegate certain enforcement authority to Oklahoma. Those agencies will join ICE task forces as part of Operation Guardian.

Oklahoma is one of the first states to enter an agreement like this according to the Governor’s Office.
