Governor Kevin Stitt wants to assure Oklahomans that services through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) will continue normally despite undergoing multiple investigations. Officials are trying to discover possible contract and payment issues with vendors which appear to have left the Department short of enough money to make it through the fiscal year.
Tulsa World’s Steve Metzer writes that Stitt said hard questions need to be asked about how contracts were initiated with nonprofit providers.
House Speaker Kyle Hilbert has created a select committee which will hear testimony from Mental Health Commissioner Allie Friesen on Thursday.
