Drummond Criticizes $100,000 Bond for Suspected Leader of Major Drug Operation

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is raising concerns after an Oklahoma County judge set a $100,000 bond for Hao Chen, the man accused of leading a billion-dollar illegal marijuana trafficking operation tied to a multi-state investigation.

“A $100,000 bond for Hao Chen does not come close to reflecting the harm done to Oklahoma communities by this operation,” Drummond said. “He faces charges of corrupting our licensing system, flooding the black market with marijuana and running a sprawling criminal network for years. Chen was arrested in New York and has every incentive to flee.”

Chen faces 18 felony counts stemming from a Multi-County Grand Jury indictment connected to Operation Blunt Force. The investigation targeted an alleged criminal enterprise accused of exploiting Oklahoma’s medical marijuana licensing system while trafficking illegal marijuana across state lines.

Chen was arrested in New York City on January 29 and was transferred to the Oklahoma County Jail over the weekend. Authorities say Operation Blunt Force led to 20 arrests across multiple states.
