Hern Questions Tax Exempt Statue of Universities in Light of NIL

The Name, Image, Likeness, or NIL payments college athletes receive from the universities has Congress taking a closer look at the tax exempt status for the institutions.

The U.S. House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on Tuesday called, Growing Business of Sports: Reviewing Federal Tax Policy in the Multibillion-Dollar Industry.

During his turn for questions, Congressman Kevin Hern says today’s college sports programs look more like sports programs wrapped in an educational component.
