Oklahoma officials have released a new statewide strategy aimed at expanding the state’s role in the growing space industry and attracting new jobs, private investment and federal contracts.
Governor Kevin Stitt announced the Oklahoma Space Advantage Strategy during the Oklahoma Breakfast ahead of the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow. The plan was developed by the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics and the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority.
“We’re going to be top 10 in everything we do,” Stitt said. “We’ve been building the backbone of the aerospace industry and we do it better than anyone else. By seizing this moment, we are creating generations of quality, good-paying jobs for our kids and grandkids.”
State officials said the strategy is intended to position Oklahoma to compete as the global space economy continues to grow. The industry is currently valued at about $630 billion and is projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035.
According to the agencies, the plan is designed to help Oklahoma attract space-related companies, investment and high-paying jobs while strengthening the state’s aerospace industry.
