A political newcomer won the Democratic nomination in the U.S. Senate race.
N’Kiyla Jasmine Thomas defeated Jim Priest in the August 25 runoff, 61.19% to 38.81%.
Thomas now advances to the November general election where she faces U.S. Representative Kevin Hern for the seat left open by Markwayne Mullin becoming the Secretary of Homeland Security.
Libertarian Sevier White, and independent candidates Curtis Stinnett and Ron Meinhardt will join Thomas and Hern on the November ballot.
