Republican U. S. Senate candidate T. W. Shannon said today he has raised more than $800,000 for his campaign in only 60 days.
Shannon, the former speaker of the Oklahoma House, revealed the sum in an email to supporters:
I just wanted to write with a quick update on some really good news. Thanks to all of your support, we far exceeded our original fundraising goal, taking in just over $800,000 in a mere 60 days.
I continue to be overwhelmed by the support our message is receiving across the state and across the country. I know I have said this before, but I want to make sure you know I do not take your efforts for granted. We certainly would not be in such a positive position without your support early in the campaign. I appreciate all of your efforts over the last several weeks and look forward to continued success.
While this is a wonderful achievement, we still have more work to do. We must press forward at this pace in order to reach our ultimate fundraising goals for the primary election, June 24. Our team is not missing a beat and is ready for the challenge. I know I can count on your continued support to help us, and I am thankful.
We will continue to be in touch with you regarding how you can help, and if you have ideas of your own, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
T.W.
Shannon faces Congressman James Lankford, former Senator Randy Brogdon and others in the election.
This is not surprising. After all, TW has missed 78% of the votes in the Oklahoma House since he began campaigning for another job. The taxpayers in Lawton who sent him to Oklahoma City expect him to show up for work while drawing his salary. If I missed work 78% of the time, I’d be fired…and so would most folks. It’s time our politicians be held to the same standards the rest of us have to live by. Notice how dismissive TW is in this Tulsa World article detailing his absences…

He’s spent most of that $800,000 already on advertising while Lankford has over a $1,000,000 on hand. By the way, Congressman Lankford is still doing his job. TW can’t say the same thing.
