Democrat Cyndi Munson has defeated Republican Chip Carter 54-46 percent in the House District 85 special election.
Munson had 2,640 votes to 2,268 for Carter.
Munson’s lead began after early voting and absentee mail-in ballots were counted and continued as today’s ballots were counted. The seat has long been considered a safe Republican seat.
Republican David Dank died while in office; his late wife, Odilia, held the seat before he was elected. It is the seat once held by Governor Fallin.
