Inhofe To Receive Reagan Award

The Oklahoma Republican Party has selected Senator Jim Inhofe as the recipient of the 2016 Ronald Reagan Leadership Achievement Award.

The annual award is given, in the spirit of President Reagan, to a Republican recipient selected by the party’s Executive Committee based on decades of service and leadership to the party and to the state of Oklahoma.

OKGOP Chairman Pam Pollard said, “We’re excited to present the Ronald Reagan award to Sen. Inhofe who has dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to our party and to our state.”

Inhofe will be recognized at the party’s Gala Dinner on Friday, May 13th and formally presented with the award at the State Convention the next day.

Pollard continued, “This award is long overdue for Sen. Inhofe who has led the way for conservative Republican principles both in the state legislature and in Congress. Most notably, he has fought for a strong national defense in recognition of Reagan’s vision of peace through strength. Both in the Clinton and Obama administrations, he sounded the alarm on the dangers of dismantling our military and conducting pinprick operations against our adversaries. As a result, we are in a day and age where our enemies do not fear us and our allies question our resolve. Along the way, Inhofe has forced the hand of administrations to prioritize military funding to ensure America has the leading edge against the likes of Russia and China while also securing resources to provide for and support our all-volunteer force and their families here at home.

“In a similar vein as Reagan, Inhofe has been a consistent conservative in his fight for states’ rights and smaller government. As chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, he has successfully defeated every effort over the past 20 years to impose a national energy tax and has worked to block federal mandates that seek to extinguish our abundant domestic supply of fossil fuels.”

In addition to the Ronald Reagan Award, the party will present the Skip Healey Party Building Award to a recipient that has demonstrated unparalleled efforts to grow the Oklahoma Republican Party and the OKGOP Rising Star Award to an up-and-coming leader who has demonstrated a unique ability to rally grassroots efforts for Republican candidates and their local party.

The Friday night Gala Dinner will feature keynote speaker Carly Fiorina and will be joined by Gov. Mary Fallin and Sen. James Lankford, which will be held at the Skirvin Hotel in Downtown Oklahoma City. Details for the event can be found here: 2016 Convention Gala.
