Three House members want state employees to let them know of any waste, fraud or abuse within state agencies. State Representatives Kevin Calvey, Bobby Cleveland and Tom Gann made the call for whistleblowers to email tips about possible mismanagement of funds.
“Our many hardworking and diligent state employees and vendors are as concerned about wasteful state spending as most Oklahomans,” said the representatives in a statement. “We encourage these whistleblowers to contact us at kevin.calvey@okhouse.gov, bobby.cleveland@okhouse.gov, and/or tom.gann@okhouse.gov with tips on exposing wasteful spending. We imagine the House Special Investigative Committee as a whole will also invite such tips, and we look forward to working with other members of the committee.”
Calvey promises protection for the whistleblowers who come forward.
“I will protect the privacy of all whistleblowers,” said Calvey. “That will be my priority concern, and I’m confident my colleagues will also keep sources confidential.”
Cleveland believes there are some who are too timid to go before a committee to provide information on waste.
“In some cases a whistleblower might feel more comfortable getting information to one member of the committee rather than all 15 members,” said Cleveland. “It is in that spirit of cooperation that I make this invitation”
Gann feels state employees have ground level knowledge which would help inform lawmakers’ decisions.
“Our state employees and vendors are in a great position to make state spending more cost-efficient for the taxpayers, and I am eager to gain the benefit of their experience in making our tax dollars work smarter,” added Gann.
I am a retired state employee and waive my confidentiality rights by revealing in the McCarville Report some on going waste, fraud and abuse by three current state employees. Their names are Calvey, Cleveland and Gann who have made careers out of doing nothing as elected officials except draw their checks, issue stupid, self serving press releases and blaming others for the budget crisis they themselves have created.
To find proof of my allegations these three geniuses need only to look in a mirror.
Cal Hobson
Cal,
While I believe our legislators as a group must take the blame for our state’s ills, I would not place blame for our problems on those who choose to do something about it. We must move forward and stop looking in the rear view mirror for scapegoats. If you disagree with investigating mismanagement in state agencies, then your statements may have only been politically motivated. If that is so, then I feel sorry for you. If it is not, then please explain your position. If you choose to respond, use facts. Emotionally charged statements lead us nowhere.
Can’t fix Hobson…er stupid!
