After a struggle with cancer, former Oklahoma Senator Brooks Douglass has passed away at the age of 56.
The Oklahoman’s Nolan Clay writes a memorial service will be held for Douglass on Friday.
Douglass’ parents were murdered during a break in of their home in 1979. Douglass and his sister survived to testify against the suspects. He later forgave the shooter.
During his time at the Legislature, he championed victim’s rights causes.
