Stitt Issues Order to Protect State Assets from China

Governor Kevin Stitt on Thursday issued an executive order meant to protect state assets from Chinese aggression. The order directs the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES) to conduct an annual state risk assessment to identify areas of vulnerability, the development of a divestment plan from assets at risk of a conflict in the Indo-Pacific, and reduction of reliance on single-source procurement from adversarial regimes.

“Under President Biden, the United States is dealing with an aggressive and emboldened Chinese government, and states have to be prepared to deal with those consequences. I’m proud to take this executive action to protect our interests from foreign adversaries. I can promise you, the Chinese Communist Party will find no friend in Oklahoma,” said Stitt.

The Governor signed Senate Bill 1705 three weeks ago to prohibit foreign governments from owning land in Oklahoma.
