Stitt Leads Rejection of Jail Mental Health Consent Decree

Governor Kevin Stitt led the Oklahoma Contingency Review Board to reject a preliminary consent decree requiring the State Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) to more quickly provide restorative treatment to jail inmates who have been judged mentally incompetent.

Tulsa World’s Melissa Jacques writes Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond argues that the Board cannon reject a settlement which as not been formally reached yet.

The final hearing in federal court is scheduled for January 15, 2025.
