The State of Oklahoma is sending more help to the hurricane ravaged areas in North Carolina and Florida. Hurricane Milton made landfall on Thursday in central Florida while many are still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Helene.

The Oklahoma National Guard is sending a CH-47 helicopter and ten personnel, which includes two rescue swimmers and one Helicopter Search & Rescue Technician.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is sending a ten-person team to assist with public health needs in North Carolina.

An Emergency Operations Response Team was sent ahead of the Hurricane Milton landfall to assist with incident management and operations in Florida. The state also sent three swift water rescue teams to Florida.

The Oklahoma Task Force 1 also sent two 16-person Type 1 swift water rescue team to North Carolina.

“Oklahomans know what it means to stand beside our fellow Americans in times of need. We will continue to serve our neighbors with strength and compassion, because that’s who we are. Oklahoma has sent a helicopter rescue unit, water rescue teams, emergency operations personnel, urban search and rescue units, and a public health team to help in anyway they can. My prayers are with the Americans who continue to recover from Helene, as well as our friends on Florida’s Gulf coast as they brace for Hurricane Milton,” said Governor Kevin Stitt.
